Steamed cabbage with garlic, thyme, and chile pepper. Delicious! It’s the only way my family will eat cabbage other than in coleslaw.

Ingredients
2 tablespoons butter
1 onion, chopped
¼ cup green bell pepper
1 medium head cabbage, cored and coarsely chopped
¼ cup water
1 clove garlic, crushed
2 sprigs fresh thyme
1 Scotch bonnet chile, seeded and thinly sliced
salt and ground black pepper to taste
Directions
Melt butter in a skillet over medium-high heat. Add onion and bell pepper; cook and stir until slightly softened, 3 to 5 minutes. Add cabbage, water, garlic, and thyme; bring to a boil. Reduce heat to medium-low; cover and steam until cabbage is tender, 8 to 10 minutes.
Stir in Scotch bonnet chile until warmed through; season with salt and pepper.
Tips
For a less spicy dish, leave the Scotch bonnet chile pepper whole rather than chopping it.
